INTERIOR DESIGNER
The Kenya Law (National Council for Law Reporting) is a state corporation
established by the National Council for Law Reporting Act, 1994. The
statutory mandate of Kenya Law is :
i.
To monitor and report on the development of Kenya’s jurisprudence
through the publication of the Kenya Law Reports;
ii.
To revise, consolidate and publish the Laws of Kenya; and
iii.
To undertake such other related publications and perform such other
functions as may be conferred by law.
Kenya Law is looking for a highly organized and self-motivated professional to
serve in the following position on a three (3) months contract with respect to
an ongoing project for the establishment of new office promises.

Job Title: Interior Designer (1 position)
Reporting to: Human Resources Manager
Terms of Employment: Three (3) months contract
Duty Station: Nairobi
The Interior Designer will be reporting to Kenya Law's Human Resources
Manager and will be required to work closely with the project committee and
the designated officials of the Ministry of Public Works.
KEY TASKS:
Duties and responsibilities
On behalf of Kenya Law, to:

Read, interpret and familiarize oneself with the architectural drawings,
blue prints and the plans of the Kenya Law's management regarding the
interior design and fittings of the proposed new offices.
Develop detailed drawings and designs for approval by project manager
for the various spaces in the proposed offices.
Plan architectural details using computer aided design (CAD) to create
drawings such as crown molding, display cabinets, built-in bookshelves,
other kinds of office storage and others.
To advise and select color schemes, window treatments, hardware,
layouts, lighting fixtures, carpet, artwork, paint, furniture and furniture
layouts and arrangement, and any other materials in interior design.
Make visual inspections and prepare reports on the progress of the
interior design works.
Ensure the implementation of safety, healthy and environmental best
practices in the interior design of the working environment.
Keep the project committee of Kenya Law updated with the progress of
the interior works, changes in construction methods, statutory legislation
and carry out continued professional development.
Participate in the arrangement for the feed-back of information from the
project.

Identify technical problems on interior designs and interior design works
and recommend corrective action to the project Committee of Kenya
Law.
QUALIFICATIONS:
For appointment to this position, a candidate must have;

Bachelors degree in Housing & Interior design or Graphic design.
Literate in Windows, ArchiCad, AutoCad, 3D Home design, Adobe suite
Working knowledge of building and construction laws, regulations and
compliance instruments and procedures.
Excellent understanding of and professional experience in the
implementation of interior designs and aesthetics that observe safety,
healthy and environmental best practices in the design of an office
environment.
Previous experience of an aggregate period of least three (3) years as
an Interior Designer for a project valued at not less than Kshs. 70Million.
Demonstrated ability to conceptualise, express and implement creative
design ideas.
Awareness of technical building issues, and the range of relevant
products and materials.
Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
Ability to conduct research into project-related issues and products.
Good interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
