Purpose: This workshop provides pharmacology-based education essential to maintain up-to-date evidencebased practice.
At the completion of the Morning Program, participants will be able to:
 Define palliative care. Discuss the scope of the problem of palliative care. Identify triggers to consider palliative
care. Discuss tools used in palliative care. Describe treatments used in palliative care.
 Discuss prevention strategies to decrease the risk of development of venous ulcers. Define wound characteristics
of venous ulcers. Discuss treatment interventions and lab tests used in the diagnosis and treatment of venous
ulcers.
 Review factors that affect pharmacokinetics in older adults. Discuss factors that predispose older adults to
adverse drug events. Relate principals for prescribing appropriate medications for older adults. Discuss
implementation of Beers Criteria into clinical practice.
At the completion of the Afternoon Program, participants will be able to:
 Define depressive disorders. Identify useful screening tools for depression. Identify when to initiate
antidepressants in primary care. Distinguish between types of antidepressants to predict and evaluate efficacy.
 Define allergic rhinitis/sinusitis. Assess medical and family history for predisposing factors to the development of
allergic rhinitis. Develop a treatment plan for allergic rhinitis.
 Define current ACIP recommendations for the use of meningococcal vaccine. Recognize the implications of using
the HPV vaccine in the male population. Explain principles used when prescribing infant formula. Identify
appropriate pharmacologic interventions for gastrointestinal issues related to motility.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received in writing to SNAP at least 7 days prior to the seminar will be refunded.
Cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the seminar will be refunded 50% of the amount paid. No refunds will be made
for cancellations or no-shows the day of the seminar. Registration may be transferred to another participant at any time to avoid
cancellation fees.
The morning program will provide 3.25 contact hours; the afternoon program will provide 3.25 contact hours.
To obtain contact hours, participants must attend at least 90% of this event and complete
the evaluation from at the end of the activity.
