But it’s her enduring interest in stylish architecture and saving historic buildings that brings her to Nashville in January. Keaton, author of two books on unique residential design, will present the keynote lecture at the 2015 Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville, running Jan. 30 through Feb. 1, 2015 at the Music City Center. Keaton’s appearance, including a slideshow presentation and informal Q&A, is scheduled for 11 a.m. on opening day, Friday, Jan. 30, at the MCC. Keaton’s enthusiasm for design and her longtime commitment to creative preservation caught the attention of chairmen Kae Gallagher and Julie Fleming as they were developing the 2015 concept. “Diane Keaton has a true love for making the old new again,” Gallagher says. “She epitomizes the art of stylish living, which is ultimately what the Antiques & Garden Show is all about.” It doesn’t hurt, Gallagher adds, that Keaton is also a leading Hollywood celebrity, a “style icon” with unmistakable panache. Fleming and Gallagher also announce today that celebrated fashion designer Oscar de la Renta and his wife, Annette, will serve as honorary chairmen for the 2015 event. The chairmen say their decision to spotlight Keaton and the de la Rentas made choosing the signature theme for 2015 — Style — relatively easy. “We have talented, stylish people engaged with beautiful, stylish things,” Fleming says. “Whether interiors, fashion, gardens, restoration, the common element is style.” The 2015 Antiques & Garden show, presented by TVV Capital, will mark the 25th anniversary of the charity event, which has become the largest of its kind in the United States. Founded in 1990, it has to date raised nearly $6 million on behalf of Cheekwood Botanical Gardens & Museum and the many Nashville charities supported by the Economic Club of Nashville (ECON), formerly the Nashville Exchange Club. Advance tickets to Keaton’s appearance are $50 and include admission to the entire threeday event, which promises an outstanding combination of spectacular gardens, fine antiques and horticultural items. Tickets to the show only, without admission to Keaton’s keynote, are $12-$15 in advance. All tickets will be on sale soon at www.antiquesandgardenshow.com. Groups of 10 or more can register now at the website for discounted tickets. During her Nashville appearance, Keaton will also receive an award from Cheekwood recognizing her ongoing efforts in historic restoration, says Patrick Larkin, Cheekwood’s Senior Vice President of Gardens and Facilities. Cheekwood recently announced a multiyear plan to restore and furnish the mansion’s lower levels. Creating a new award that celebrates individuals devoted to preservation and restoration is a natural extension of that initiative, Larkin says. Following her keynote, Keaton will participate in a book signing. Her latest architecture book, House, published in 2012, has been described as a “luxurious, graphically compelling vision for contemporary domestic living.” It explores “rusticated, reimagined or repurposed” spaces from across the country, showcasing the creativity of such designers as Annabelle Selldorf, Roy McMakin, Rick Joy and Tom Kundig. The book’s purpose, in part, is to reveal “possibilities we might bring to our own domestic spaces.” Keaton’s first design book was California Romantica, a celebration of important but rarely seen California homes built in the California Mission and Spanish Colonial styles. Among the residences featured in that book is Keaton’s own former home in Beverly Hills. Additional highlights of the 2015 Antiques & Garden show will be announced this week during a kick-off meeting for more than 100 volunteer leaders at the Nashville home of Kathy and Bobby Rolfe. ### About the Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville The Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville brings together top interior designers, landscape architects and purveyors of fine furnishings for a three-day event that showcases the elements – indoors and outdoors – that make a house a home.
