Primary Schools Basketball
Championships
The SAPSASA Basketball Championships are supported by Basketball SA and SA Country Basketball.
There will be round robin competitions for Year 6/7 boys and Year 6/7 girls in both the metro area and some
country regions. The finals will be played in Adelaide.
Metro Days:
Boys 6/7: Wednesday 27th July OR Thursday 28th July
Girls 6/7: Wednesday 27th July OR Thursday 28th July
NB: The intention is to place the boys and girls teams from the same school at the same venue on the same day
however this will not be possible for all schools
Regional Days: By Thursday 25th August
Finals Day: Thursday 22nd September
PROBABLE VENUES FOR MINOR ROUND COMPETITION:
Metro: Hillcrest, Marion, Morphett Vale, Port Adelaide, Pasadena & Wayville Sports Centre
Country regions: Yorke & Mid North (Kadina), Riverland (Loxton), Limestone Coast (Millicent), Eyre Peninsula
(Whyalla). Stadium Canteens will be open.
DRAWS: The basketball draws and rules will be available on the SAPSASA Website: www.decd.sa.gov.sa/sport/
The school contact person must ensure each coach has a copy of the draw.
FINALS: The finals competitions will be programmed to maximise the number of teams that can be accommodated
in the finals round robin competition at two Adelaide stadia.
ELIGIBILITY & TEAMS
Players must be enrolled and attending a school affiliated with SAPSASA.
Schools may NOT combine with another school unless in an exceptional circumstance that has been approved by
the SAPSASA – Primary School Sport Manager.
Schools may enter only one team in each division of the championships.
It may be possible for regional areas to offer “Come and Try” divisions to cater for small schools, beginning players
or second teams.
COST: $55 inc GST per team. Payment is to be forwarded to SAPSASA after nominating on-line.
There is no individual entrance fee for players or spectators at either minor or final rounds.
Teams playing at regional centres are to nominate & pay the local entry fee to the organising district convenor.
(NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN IF A TEAM PULLS OUT ONCE THE DRAW HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND
SENT TO SCHOOLS.)
TRT DAYS: TRT days are to be negotiated within the nominating schools. No TRT days will be funded by
SAPSASA.

CLOSING DATE IS THURSDAY 14th APRIL, 2016
Each school has the duty of care responsibility of their students participating in SAPSASA events. Please
ensure DECD policies and procedures are followed.
