Practical arrangements for attending Pastoral Committee and Church Buildings Uses and Disposal Committee meetings Access to the Church Commissioners’ office at Church House is through either the entrance in Dean’s Yard or the Main Door (also known as the North Door) in Great Smith Street. The Reception at either entrance will ask you to sign-in and give you a Visitor’s Pass, after which you will be directed to a waiting room. Coffee and biscuits will be available and toilets are nearby. A Duty Officer will be there to answer any questions you have and to agree with you who the speakers will be for your case. If this cannot be agreed the Committee Chairman will decide who will speak. If you are held up on your journey to the Commissioners’ office, please ring the Pastoral Division on 07722 014 106, or the Closed Churches Division on 020 7898 1781. It might be possible for you to speak later in the meeting. This is, however, up to the Committee. Shortly before the Committee meeting begins, you will be invited into the Meeting Room. There are seats available for about 25 visitors. If there is a very large audience, priority will be given to those who have made representations about the case or are from the area being discussed. After the public part of the meeting, speakers, other representors and members of the public will be asked to leave the Room whilst the Committee discusses the case and makes its decision. Everybody will then be invited back for the announcement of the decision and an outline of the reasons for it.
