The Dean of Students Office creates a culture of care for students, faculty, and other members of the University community by providing exemplary services designed to enhance students’ academic and personal success. The Dean of Students Office serves as a moral compass for students by guiding them to be ethical, responsible and respectful citizen leaders and promoting their rights and responsibilities by addressing student conduct on campus and in the surrounding community. Position Description: The Dean of Students Office is seeking focused, self-motivated individual to serve in a variety of roles. Depending upon his or her interest, this Graduate Assistant may serve as a hearing officer for misconduct, advise students who need assistance and intervention, plan/conduct workshops for the campus, assist with assessment plans, and learn/implement basic office/divisional/university policies. The student will be expected to be a contributing member of the Dean’s staff. 1 Division of Student Affairs Positional Responsibilities: 1. Assist the Assistant Dean for Student Rights and Responsibilities. 2. Act as a Hearing Officer with students on incidents regarding misconduct and errors in judgment that occur on and off campus. 3. Coordinate and facilitate educational workshops for students in regards to conduct. These may include workshops on making better choices, plagiarism,ethics, etc. 4. Assist with outreach efforts, on and off of campus. 5. Assist Dean of Students Office to develop publications. 6. Participate and assist with assessment initiatives, including program assessment. 7. Work with our front office staff to learn policies and procedures of office. 8. Consult and meet with supervisor on a regular basis. 9. Other duties as assigned. Specific responsibilities may reflect the successful candidate’s interest and desired experiences as well as current department needs. In addition this assistantship will provide the student with the opportunity to experience applying theory to practice through: Development and implementation of workshops; Conducting discipline hearings; Engaging in various outreach activities; Learning and implementing institutional policies and procedures; Working with students in crisis; Serving on task forces and committees. Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and be enrolled in graduate coursework in Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs or a related field for the duration of the assistantship. Compensation: 1. Annual stipend of $12,938 in the form of twelve monthly lump sum payments. 2. Full tuition remission and health care benefits. 3.
