Hello parents,
I’m really excited for the Elevate Ski Retreat. This can be a difficult trip to get teens signed up for,
especially since the money is due right after Christmas. But we have a group of 16 signed up right
now! That includes Kristy Wolkins (the female chaperone) and me.
If there is need to get a hold of me during the trip, my phone number is (574) 265-7276. I will have it
silenced during our sessions, so please give me time to respond. I will have teens contact you when
we are within a half an hour of returning.
Where will we be?
Higher Grounds Conference Center
3820 Logan Creek Lane, West Harrison, IN 47060
This is about 3.5 hours away, according to Google Maps.
Perfect North Slopes
19074 Perfect Lane, Lawrenceburg, IN 47025
Packing List
Clothes to ski in on Saturday
(We will be outside for the larger part of 8 hours. Make sure your teen has layers, plus hat and
gloves.)
Clothes to change into after skiing
Clothes to sleep in 2 nights
Clothes for Sunday
Sleeping bag / pillow / blanket
Bathroom stuff / towel
Money for dinner on Friday and a possible stop on Sunday
(We will have lunch before we go, but teens always seem hungry.)
Books, magazines, sunglasses, bling, Bible, #2 pencil
(Please be mindful that everything you bring is at your risk and is your responsibility. This
refers especially to all tech.)
With 16 signed up, we’ll be taking two vehicles, the church bus and my van, so I am not overly
worried about space for luggage. Pack what you need for 3 days, but remember we are only going to
be gone for 3 days.
What’s a parent to do?
Be in prayer for our group. Yes, we want everyone to have fun and stay safe on the slopes. But you
and I know that skiing is just the draw for the real purpose of this weekend. As a youth pastor, I know
that great spiritual growth can take place on focused trips like these. Pray for God to speak to each
one of our teens.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him
for all he has done. ~Philippians 4:6
Looking Forward,
Rick
