faith based, law enforcement, military, church, and security professionals since 2002. There staff
members possess many different types of expertise along a wide array of tactical, live-fire,
corporate/church security, emergency preparedness, risk management and organizational
development topics. Vaughn Baker, currently President of Strategos International will be
leading this workshop.

Professional Skills
1. Publisher: Trudy Buehler retired from Amoco Oil Company in 1988 after 23 years of service. She
worked for the next eight years as a contract instructor for Amoco Corporation, teaching computer
classes at various facilities throughout the country. After a year-long battle with cancer, she
volunteered at First Baptist Raytown for two years and then was hired full time. She retired this year
after 13 years as the Worship Ministry Assistant. She has been married 40 years and she and her
husband, Charlie, have two daughters and two grandchildren. They will soon add three stepgranddaughters to their family. Trudy Buehler
2. Church Reporting Requirements - Ultimate Tax Guide: We will discuss the typical payroll tax
reporting obligations to every church.
Haley is a CPA who works as a nonprofit organization advisor and tax consultant at Bobby Medlin CPA.
She is a wife of a pastor. She specializes in tax preparation for clergy. Haley Homan

Gene Foster is the Human Resources/GuideStone/Church Ministries Specialist, on the support Services
Team of the Missouri Baptist Convention in Jefferson City. He formerly served the convention as
Business Services Team Leader and Director of the Annuity and Insurance Department. Prior to joining
the MBC staff in 1988, Gene was a supervisor fro the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary
Education, an insurance agent and customer service representative for The Nicklas Agency, Inc.,
Jefferson City; and a teacher and coach for the Sullivan, Missouri public schools. Gene is a native
Missourian. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri State University, Springfield. He has
been president of the Jefferson City chapter of Life Underwriters and is a member of the Southern
Baptist Fellowship of State Annuity Representatives. Gene and his wife, Teresa, have two children and
are active members of Union Hill Baptist Church Holts Summit. Gene Foster

Spiritual Development
1. Clean the Junk fro Your Beach: When life brings unwanted “junk” to your calm, there are ways to
“declutter” physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. Rhonda had been a licensed
professional counselor for 14 years, including Christian counseling. She instructs at Columbia College
and is a disaster relief chaplain. Rhonda Myers
2. Missional Living: Sandee is married to Dr. Rick Hedger, Team Leader for Missional Discipleship and
Evangelism for the Missouri Baptist Convention. Their current assignment came following nearly 30
years in the pastorate and a relentless global tug of God toward those without Gospel access. Though
their current “assignment” is in the area of mobilizing SBC Churches in Missouri toward the nations, the
calling to Gospel advancement in frontier area’s is deeply personal. Sandee and Rick are the parents of
two young adult children. Joshua and his bride Tish reside in Kansas City where Joshua serves as
Director of the Center for Church Planting at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Kaila and her
husband Vince are currently stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Bellville, Illinois where Vince serves as a
Physician in the USAF. Sandee Hedger

1. Awareness and Security for Church Staff: Vaughn Baker is currently President of Strategos
International. His professional experiences include 20 years of patrol , investigations, and special
operations assignments. He has also served as a member of his agency’s SWAT team for over 13 years.
He has trained thousands of school, healthcare, government, faith based, law enforcement and military
professionals from around the world over the past 15 years on various safety, security, law
enforcement, military and tactical related topics. Vaughn Baker

New This Year Chat Rooms:
Have you ever wondered if there are other secretaries that are dealing with some of the same
things you are? Do you just have some questions you just need the answers to? This is your
opportunity to come together and share your ideas and questions with other secretaries
around the state.
1. Association Secretary: Our chat room will be an informal forum where Association Ministry
Assistants can share their triumphs, struggles, ideas and other thoughts unique to ministering in an
association office. Jim Wells, a former DOM, will join us to share from “the boss’s “ perspective. Juanita
is a pastor’s wife, mother, full-time ministry assistant and currently serving as the acting president of
BSAM. My calling is to serve my God by serving others. Juanita Golden
