In small groups, participants reflect on the skills students need to be successful on the task and align the task to grade-level standards. TOTAL TIMING OF THE MODULE IS: 50 Minutes Slide An Overview of the Module: Session Goals & Activities Introduction: Norms for Working Together minutes 2 DIRECT participants to the slide and ASK them to review the norms for working together. CLARIFY any questions participants may have about the norms. EXPLAIN that we will be using these norms throughout our work together and will be checking in from time to time to see that we are following the norms. 5 minutes Slides 3 Introduction: Goals DIRECT participants to the slide and ASK them to review the session goals. ASK if there 5 minutes are any questions about the goals. Slide 4 Introduction: Key Shifts in ELA/Literacy CCSS 5 DIRECT participants to handout (the 3 key shifts) and ASK them what questions they have about the shifts? Slides minutes 5 DIRECT participates to the CCSS sheet. Break them up into five groups (for the five ). Have them review and discuss, in their groups, what they notice about the CCSS. Lead a whole group discussion to discuss their findings. 20 Slides Engage in Writing Research Simulation Task minutes 6 DIRECT participants to noted materials (Research Simulation Task sheets). ASK participants to review the information on the slide.
