Ancient China – The “Four Great Inventions”

The people of Ancient China were resourceful and creative. In the 1500s, Western (European)
thinkers identified the ancient Chinese inventions that they believe were the most important:
 Compass
 Gunpowder
 Papermaking
 Printing
You are going to choose one of Ancient China’s “Four Great Inventions” and conduct a short
research project. You will then create a printer paper-size poster that includes:
 A title
 A short description of the invention (this must be in your own words)
 One complete sentence about why the invention is important
 A hand-drawn picture (with color) of the invention or something made possible by the
invention. This does not have to be a masterpiece, but should reflect your best effort.
