Students stop by the library and pick up a superhero bookmark! Batman, The
Flash, Catwoman, Wonder Woman and Superman are available.
NHS is selling Valentines suckers. Delivery is Friday Feb 12 during the middle section of
5th. Find an NHS member to purchase. Please put the recipient’s name and 5th period
class on the outside of the valentine so it can be seen when you close it.

PSAT score reports have arrived! If you took the test in October, stop by the guidance office to
receive your score report.

FAN BUS for the GSW Spiritline Team State Competition – The bus will depart Friday at 11:00
AM (Jan 29) and return Friday at 3:00 PM. $15.00 TOTAL fee per person - $10 entry fee and $5
transportation fee. This will count as a “Field Trip” for your student attendance.
Homecoming dance tickets are being sold this week during lunches. The cost is $5 per ticket.
GSW Students ONLY will be allowed to purchase at the door.
Anyone playing in homecoming games this year during the pep assembly must be wearing tennis
shoes in order to play. Please make sure you have tennis shoes with you on Thursday.

If you are interested in getting an inexpensive prom dress visit melissascloset.org for information
about the Melissa's Closet and Crystal's Jewelry Box event taking place on Saturday, March
5th from 9 am - 1 pm at the Godley Park District. Dresses are $5. Accessories, hair, and
makeup are also available.
If you are interested in getting a prom dress through or selling a prom dress at the Tri Point High
School 2016 PACE Consignment Sale stop by the guidance office to pick up information.
Dresses can be dropped off February 12th or 13th during designated time. Appropriate paperwork
must accompany the dress. The sale will take place on February 27th.
Homecoming week is this week and the following are the dress days for the week. Our theme
this year is Superheros!

The Pep Assembly will be TODAY, Jan. 28th at 1:45PM.
The Homecoming Dance will be Saturday, January 30 from 7-10 PM. Date Request forms will
be due back to the office by January 27th!! Tickets for the dance will be on sale during lunch
hours this week! Tickets will be sold at the door to GSW Students only!!! Any questions please
see Mrs. Arrambide.

placed in my box before Feb 15th.
If you are interested in becoming a life guard, please stop by the Guidance Office to pick up
information about an upcoming class.
Are you a responsible, trustworthy student looking for a job? If so, stop by Rub Ford in Gardner
to fill out an application. They are looking for someone to do office work from 3 - 6 pm each
day after school.
Graduation Raffle = Drawing will be Feb 19th at last boys home game.
Tickets can be purchased in the office during school hours or contact Corey Brannock.

Students - If you need community service hours or just want to volunteer the Gardner and Mazon
Area Masons could use your help. Friday, January 29th they will host a Chili Dinner at the
Gardner American Legion Hall from 4 - 8 pm. The money raised at this event is used for the
Mason's Scholarship. See Ms. Kilmer if you would like to pick up a flyer.
Seniors - If you have received a scholarship offer that you plan to accept please bring a copy of
the award letter to the guidance office so we can recognize your accomplishment at Academic
Awards Night and graduation. Thank you!
A very nice women's size medium warm winter coat is available in the Guidance Office. If you
are in need, please see Ms. Kilmer.
CLUBS:
Reminder = Student Council members do not forget your chips and cookies for the
dance Saturday. Freshmen and Sophomores you have cookies and Juniors and Seniors you
have chips. Sophomores and Juniors you are in charge of clean up for the dance.
Also those who offered to help blow up balloons for TODAY’s pep assembly = please meet
in Mrs. A's room during 5th hour.

NHS is selling suckers for Valentine’s Day. 3 suckers for $1.00 OR 1 sucker for 50 cents.
Valentine’s Card will be attached to the sucker. Contact / see any NHS member to purchase.

JJC will host the 2016 African American Teen Summit on Friday, February 12th from 9 am to
1:30 pm. More information is available at www.jjc.edu or see Ms. Kilmer.
JJC Campus Visit Days are March 7th and March 29th beginning at 9 am. For more information

Delta Kappa Gamma - $1000 scholarship awarded to a female senior pursuing a degree in
education. For more information, see the guidance office. Application/essay deadline

Local Masonic Lodge - $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior planning to attend a 4-year
college - 2-year junior college - or an accredited trade school or vocational training program.
Please see the Guidance Office for more information. Deadline is February 26, 2016.
Juniors & Seniors the applications for the Grundy County Economic Development Summer
Internships are now available. This year 38 positions will be filled. Applications are online and
can be accessed through the GAVC website www.gavc-il.org. Applications are due February
26th. See Ms. Kilmer with questions or to pick up a flyer.
Buick Achievers Scholarship - Up to $25,000/year to high school seniors planning to enroll full
time at a 4-year college or university focusing on engineering, technology or design, with an
interest in the automotive industry. For more information go to http://www.buickachievers.com.
Deadline is February 29, 2016.
Seniors - If you are interested in joining IBEW Local #176, Electrician's, stop by the guidance
office to pick up a flyer listing the qualifications required and the application process.
Gardner Lions Club - $500 scholarship awarded to TWO graduating seniors enrolled in a 2 year,
4 year college, trade or vocational studies program. Deadline is April 11, 2016. For application

Fred Drendel Memorial Scholarship - $1000 scholarship awarded to a senior pursuing a career in
agriculture or from an agriculture family. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Application
deadline is April 15, 2016. Please see guidance for more information.
Exelon is offering a $1000.00 scholarship to a deserving senior who is planning on entering into
a career of science or technology. This is one of our local scholarships and there will be one
winner from our school.
Any seniors planning to become a school nurse, school psychologist, instructional media
specialist, or social worker, there is a scholarship opportunity. Please see guidance office for
more information.
Students if you are interested in taking the ASVAB test at GSW, please sign up in the guidance
office. Students planning to join the military will need to take this test sometime before they
enlist. It is also a great way for any student unsure about his/her future career path to explore
areas that may be a good fit for his/her skill set. We need to gauge the number of students
interested before the test can be set up. Please sign up ASAP if you are interested.
Seniors - If you plan to enter the workforce after high school and would like help with your letter
of application and resume stop by the guidance office to pick up a packet.
If you have volunteered your time to improve our community and would like to be recognized
with the Prudential Spirit of the Community Award you can complete an application to be
considered for this award. More information is available at http://spirit.prudential.com.
JJC COMPASS Testing has been set for 8 am on Thursday, February 18th at GSW.
Juniors and Seniors - If you are interested in a week long program on government and leadership
this March taking place in Washington DC, stop by the guidance office to get application
information or visit www.ussenateyouth.org.
If you are interested in attending a private college in Wisconsin, please stop by the guidance
office to pick up an admission and financial aid guide.
If you are planning to take the ACT register at www.actstudent.org. See Ms. Kilmer if you need
assistance.
Pointe Pest Control - $750 scholarship for graduating high school senior. Must have a 3.0 GPA
