Life Science STUDY GUIDE STUDY TEST TUESDAY SEPT. 25th *The part of a flower that attracts pollinators are the petals because of their color and smell. *Plants Life Cycle (GRANDMA MADE ROTTEN DUMPLINGS) germination-maturation-reproduction-death *The three things needed for photosynthesis are Carbon Dioxide, Water and Energy from the sun. *The plant stores food that is made in roots. *Stamens are the male parts of flowers and usually surround the female part. Stamens are the plant part that produces pollen for the plant. *Germinate- means to sprout underground *Maturatation – is when the plant sprouts up out of the ground *Ferns do not make seeds they reproduce using spores not seeds Self Pollination-flower pollinates itself Cross Pollination-flower pollinates another flower(the same type of flower) * Pine cones do not produce flowers but they do have seeds inside their pinecones. This makes them a conifer. *Non-vascular plants- are plants that do not have tubes or roots for carrying water through the plant. They grow low to the ground and in moist places. Ex. Moss and Liverworts. *Vascular plants- have tubes that carry water and nutrients through the plant. These plants can grow very tall and big. *Glucose is the sugar used in photosynthesis in the plant. NOTE: All Vocabulary cards that we have done in class will be on the test. Make sure you STUDY ALL NOTECARDS IN YOUR SCIENCE BAG
