This introductory presentation will help psychologists: 1. Describe the conceptual structure of the WISC-V 2. Identify and describe changes to the WISC-V 3. Understand the rationale for the development of the new factor structure, composites, and subtests 4. Describe administration options of the instruments 5. Interpret WISC-V data to understand a student’s strengths and needs About the Speaker: Ellen Murphy is a School Psychologist and a Clinical Assessment Consultant for Pearson for the last 12 years. From an experience background, this presentation will share suggestions on which subtests to give and which to avoid, how to interpret scores in light of sensory issues, explanatory phrases to include within a report, and how to utilize effectively interpreters and teachers of the sensory impaired to promote test validity. This intermediate presentation will help psychologists: 1. Select appropriate test materials in light of an individual’s sensory loss 2. Analyze how standardized scores are impacted by various sensory losses and how to interpret those scores in a non-discriminatory manner 3. Describe guidelines for assessment when using educational interpreters within a testing situation to maintain test validity About the Speakers: As school psychologists employed by the state agency, ASDB, Dr. Gaines and Dr. Prince administer, score, interpret and report a variety of psychoeducational tools with sensory impaired students throughout the school year. They are charged with guarding against bias when using such measures. They work in a collaborative manner in formulating meaningful educational recommendations based on testing results in light of the student’s sensory impairment.
