Reading
Focus: Students will be able to use key details to make connections, describe how the author uses
reasons to support specific points, and compare and contrast informational text.

Writing: Students will be able to write about their opinion on a certain topic, using reasoning, logical
flow, and organizational structure.
Grammar skill: Review
 Subject / verb agreement (verb needs to agree with the subject number in the sentence)
 Common/Proper nouns (common = general nouns, proper nouns = specific name of a noun)
 Abbreviations (shortened version of a word)
 Singular/Plural Nouns (singular = 1, plural = more than 1 ; special rules for making some plural)
 Possessive Nouns (nouns that belong to someone)
Math
Focus: The students will use strategies to solve addition & subtraction word problems.
