Industrial Engineer Blind Industries and Services of Maryland (BISM) BISM is a leading apparel manufacturer to include cut fabric kits and sewn products, such as military garment kits, military uniforms and other cut and sewn products. We also manufacture a number of articles and products, such as writing tablets, personalized products, and chemical products for the janitorial industry. We are seeking an Industrial Engineer based at our facility in Baltimore to oversee engineering projects for apparel manufacturing, paper and chemical production. In this role, the Industrial Engineer will work closely with plant supervision to improve operational functions including rate maintenance, methods, plant layout, cost improvements as well as coordinate with internal and external production partners. Specific duties include: Develop routings, labor standards, and yields for product costing. Review and revise as appropriate existing labor standards to ensure cost effective and achievable rates. Provide technical support for new product introduction, including equipment recommendations, methods, and set-up. Identify and implement cost improvement projects. Work closely with vendors to keep abreast of technology and recommend specific applications for manufacturing. Assist Supervisors in training employees to achieve cost effective performance. Support annual capital budget development and cost reduction programs. Ensure that equipment and/or methods proposed are in compliance with current plant and MOSHA /OSHA safety rules. Provide data analysis, reporting, and feedback, as appropriate or needed. Qualified candidates should have previous IE experience in an Apparel Manufacturing environment. Experience handling time study methods, material and labor cost rate settings systems required. Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or Industrial Management.
