The town features a little white church on an island in the center of an emerald green mountain lake, with medieval Bled Castle perched high above, amidst the Julian Alps. The traditional way to reach the lake's island is by a traditional wooden »pletna« boat, which resembles a huge gondola. But if you haven’t, you’ve made a big mistake! This natural wonder is more than 20-kilometre long cave system that was created throughout millions of years. The cave was created by the river Pivka, who constantly leads you through your journey. Postojna cave amazes people with its magnificent underground cave halls, natural sculptures, rivers, small lakes for almost 200 years. Postojna cave is not special only for its beauties, but also for small electrical train, that gives you a ride to the wonder of Slovenian underground world. The cave is also known for human fish (Proteus anguinus) living in the cave waters. People often get truly astounded, wondering at the strange form of life preserved in the underground kingdom. The cave is accessible without special equpment, and has a constant temperature of 8° C. A visit takes an hour and a half. SPLIT Sightseeing of Split’s impressive Diocletian’s palace (UNESCO) From the humbly familly with original name Diocles, the Roman emperor was rised. He decided to spend his last years on the place which is Split today. In the 4th century he built the fortress which takes his name – Diocletian’s Palace. This Palace is an important specimen of late classical architecture and also among the best preserved ones. The recent archeological finds prove that on this place was one of Greek colonies and probably even Illyrian village long time before The Palace was built. A long period of Byzantinum domination, then Venetian rotated with popular rulers (Croatian blood Kings), a long time of Turkish despotism, Austrian regency, Napoleon and Franch dominationend, and under Austrian control again, nearly hundred years made the history of this area stormily.
