ComTrans: Continental Presents Intelligent
Technologies for Growing Transport Volume
 Conti Hybrid commercial vehicle tire makes an impression on regional roads and
highways with its mileage performance and fuel efficiency
 ContiTech introduces air springs for extreme temperature conditions
 Commercial Vehicles & Aftermarket presents web-based software for optimizing fleet
efficiency and modular driver workstation for buses
Hanover, July 2015. Reduced fuel consumption and a longer service life in even the harshest
conditions of use: Continental's technologies deliver product solutions for the growing challenges in
road traffic, including the increasing transport volume in Russia. At ComTrans in Moscow from
September 8–12, 2015, the corporation will present innovations from three fields of technology, all
of which respond to the needs of future commercial vehicle mobility.
One of the highlights in the field of commercial vehicle tires will be Continental's exclusive
introduction of its new product line, Conti Hybrid. With up to 20 percent improved mileage
performance and excellent fuel efficiency, these premium tires are setting new records in use for
regional distribution. The new tire line has been specially developed for combined use on regional
roads and highways and is Continental's response to the ever-growing transport volume in
distribution traffic. The Conti Hybrid family's precisely coordinated tire concept offers fleet
operators sustainable cost optimization options for a highly cost-effective fleet.
The new truck and bus tires from Matador will also be showcased at the stand for the first time.
The F HR 4 steering-axle tire and the D HR 4 drive-axle tire, both in size 315/80 R22.5, offer
excellent mileage performance. The new design of the tread ensures reliable handling and
performance, even on wet roads. Both hard-wearing tires deliver optimum performance in both
regional traffic and on the freeway.

-2Long service life for air springs even under extreme temperatures
Targeting the growing transport volume in especially cold regions, ContiTech has developed a
cold-resistant air spring for semi-trucks. The key basis for the cold-resistant air springs is the
special rubber compound used. ”With the new air spring, trucks are optimally equipped to operate
in temperatures as low as -55°C,” explains Diethelm Bauch, head of Commercial Vehicle Original
Equipment. The first generation has already proved successful in use in Siberia.
The use in extremely hot regions also poses particular challenges on air springs in commercial
vehicles since higher ambient temperatures and extreme atmospheric effects such as ozone and
UV radiation accelerate the wear an tear process. To guarantee a long service life even in high
temperatures, ContiTech has developed an air spring for high-temperature applications – the hitemp air spring. Tests in a climate chamber have shown that the new hi-temp air spring offers twice
the service life of a standard product in extreme temperatures of 80°C.
ContiTech is expanding its presence on the Russian market. To strengthen sales and simplify
collaboration with Russian customers, the specialist in plastics technology has established the
local company ContiTech Rus. At Comtrans in Moscow from September 8 to 12, 2015, ContiTech
Air Spring Systems will also be presenting a Russian-language version of its successful web app.
“With this, we are giving our regional customers and partners mobile access to our air spring
catalog via smartphone,” says Alexander Papadimitriou, head of Independent Aftermarket at Air
Spring Systems.
Web based software solutions for efficient fleet management
The Commercial Vehicles & Aftermarket business unit will present its broad selection of products
and solutions including the fleet management software TIS-Web (Transport Information System).
The web-based solution allows the data from the digital tachograph (DTCO) to be archived and
analyzed. This has many different advantages for fleet managers: Legal obligations to archive
driving and rest periods can be met easily and securely. In addition, schedulers can evaluate the
data in order to quickly and easily optimize their fleet operations, for example personnel
deployment, route planning, or workshop plans.

-3Amongst other Vehicle Electronics solutions on display, Continental will show its modular driver's
workplace for city buses and coaches. It offers more flexibility, individuality, state-of-the-art design
and technology and can easily be adapted for different uses. The workplace complies with all
ergonomic, safety and usability standards as set out by VDV and EBSF. The individual modular
elements fit perfectly with the stylish interior design in the latest generation of buses.
