Archaeology Report Coordinator/Reviewer
The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Archaeology Programs Unit, seeks a wellorganized individual with specialized knowledge and skills in the field of archaeology to
coordinate report review for the archaeology team.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:
 coordinate and review report submissions of project report packages, assess
completeness and accuracy of information, identify missing information and follow up with
appropriate contacts
 review, analyze and evaluate archaeological reports to ensure effective conservation of
Ontario's cultural heritage
 identify and coordinate the assignment, timelines and tracking of all archaeological
reports
 track timelines for report review and report revision due dates
 participate in on-site inspections and provide technical advice
 contribute to the assessment, development and review of ministry and branch programs,
guidelines, standards and practices in archaeological and heritage conservation
Location: 401 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario
How do I qualify?
Archaeological Expertise:
 you have knowledge of land archaeology and cultural heritage resource conservation and
management theories, principles, practices and techniques
 you can apply archaeology theories, principles, best practices and licensing processes to
provide expertise in the preparation of licence reports
 you have experience in the archaeological consulting industry and/or Ontario's
archaeological review process
 you have knowledge of Ontario's Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal archaeological cultural
heritage
Evaluative and Analytical Skills:
 you have experience evaluating submissions for completeness and ensure compliance
with the Ontario Heritage Act
 you can interpret and apply ministry requirements (e.g. Terms and Conditions of
Archaeological Licence, Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists) in
order to critically review technical reports for compliance
Negotiation, Mediation and Relationship Management Skills:
 you can build collaborative partnerships with colleagues and external stakeholders
 you can provide advice, outreach and training to internal and external stakeholders
 you can facilitate consensus building and resolve compliance issues
 you can plan and complete formal negotiation sessions using knowledge of negotiation
and mediation theory and processes
Legislative Knowledge:
 you can interpret and apply relevant acts (e.g. Ontario Heritage Act, Environmental
Assessment Act, Planning Act, Funeral Burial and Cremation Services Act) to provide
detailed explanation on policies, requirements and eligibility
Communication and Customer Service Skills:
 you can develop presentations for clients, stakeholders and senior managers
 you can deliver training and explain complex analysis and research to a wide audience
Computer Skills:
 you have knowledge of information and record management systems and practices (e.g.
PastPort, SharePoint)
 you are proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access to create customized
reports, letters, statistical displays and spreadsheets
Salary range: $1,144.78 – $1,443.90 per week
