English Crossing Elementary School Improvement Plan 2011-2012 English Crossing Elementary 2011-2012 SIP Student Achievement: Reading English Crossing Elementary School Mission We, as a community of students, parents and staff at English Crossing Elementary provide an education that promotes improved student achievement in a safe, supportive, respectful environment where students are encouraged to become responsible, productive citizens. Theory of Action: If we address all facets of the instructional core: 1) the knowledge and skills of teachers, 2) the role of the student in the instructional process, and 3) the content; then an increase in student learning and performance will occur. (City, Elmore, Fiarman & Teitel, 2009). Objective: English Crossing Elementary will develop a comprehensive system of curriculum development and implementation in unison with analyzing multiple forms of qualitative and quantitative data (e.g. research, assessment, survey results, etc.) to determine the effectiveness of student achievement in the area of reading. Reading Goal: English Crossing Elementary School students will meet or exceed the state uniform bar in Reading. Strategy: The development and implementation of data-driven curriculum that provides instructional materials and instructional strategies which meets the needs of all learners. Rationale: Using data to guide curriculum implementation allows ECE to confirm or discredit assumptions about students and school practices, identify the root causes of problems, and pinpoint areas for resource allocation. Evaluation Procedure/Monitoring Effectiveness: District and state assessments, combined with classroom data and observations activities, will serve as the evidence to verify the implementation of our overarching goals and objectives, as well as our action steps. 1 English Crossing Elementary 2011-2012 SIP Activities & Tasks Teachers, with the support of the Executive Director of Instructional Programs, will develop a literacy scope and sequence, to include instructional materials, that aligns to state and district standards.
