Sustainable Living Initiative aims to share knowledge and resources for people who want to grow vegetables and fruit organically, enjoy cooking and eating fresh food, and like meeting people. Our schemes include: Grow-Our-Own (GO2) at Bluebell South allotments on The Avenues, where you can grow fruit and vegetables on a small individual plot, sharing tools and seeds and plants. Members run the scheme together. Grow-Our-Own (GO2) at Marlpit Community Garden where you can have an individual plot and help create and maintain bee-hives, a forest garden, a fruit orchard and herbs. Schools and community groups can have a plot at Marlpit Community Garden where we can help with planting and advice. Grow-at-Home is for those who wish to grow fruit and vegetables in their own garden; we provide advice, seeds and plants. Food club meets monthly for those who like exploring different cooking cultures and methods; we use fresh organic produce from our community gardens for a shared lunch. Training and skill-sharing sessions on all aspects of growing food from soil preparation through planting and harvesting to cooking and preserving. Volunteering where you can acquire gardening and cooking skills, share a home-cooked lunch and take home seasonal produce. However you decide to participate, you’ll find a warm welcome and the opportunity to meet and work with like-minded people of all ages and backgrounds. Visit our website to find out more.
