This is a reference list only, and these businesses are not necessarily affiliated with the city of
Thornton. Fees and restrictions may apply. Please call the respective companies for specific
details.
The city of Thornton does offer a number of disposal options such as curbside pickup, bulk item
pickup, landfill days, household chemical roundups, leaf pickup, Christmas wrap pickup, and
more. Find the information you need under the Services menu and then select, Trash &
Recycling, on www.cityofthornton.net.

Most auto parts stores will accept these items.
Thornton residents ONLY may drop off these items at the IMC, 12450 Washington Street,
during business hours. Motor oil, antifreeze, and cooking oil needs to be in sealed gallon (or
smaller) containers.

The Household Chemical and Electronic Waste Roundup is held twice a year. Look for details on
www.cityofthornton.net.
Paint
Latex base paint can be dried out with some sand or kitty litter. One it is hardened, the bucket
can be placed in your black trash container. Oil based paint can be brought to the Household
Chemical and Electronic Waste Roundup.
Pharmaceutical Waste
Unwanted or expired medications are often a common sight in the medicine cabinet. Presently,
the best method for disposing of your medications is to throw them out in your regular
household trash. Today’s landfills are constructed to meet strict environmental regulations that
prevent the release of contaminants into the environment.

automobile tires.
Yard Waste
Please place into your black trash container. We also offer the following services:
Tree Branch & Limb Drop Offs on specific dates only.
2015 fall leaf collection is October 19 through November 13. City trash customers may place
bagged leaves ONLY at the curb for collection on their regular trash day. Please use black
containers first. Bags filled with trash or other debris will not be collected.
