Chapter 8 Statistics and Multiplication Equations We are being introduced to measures of central tendency and will develop methods to find the mean, median, and range of a set of data. 8.1.1 Chapter 8 Statistics and Multiplication Equations We are comparing two data sets using mean, median, and range. We are learning to choose between median and mean to describe the “typical” middle value in a distribution of data. 8.1.2 Chapter 8 Statistics and Multiplication Equations We are learning to develop the formula for the average distance from the mean in a set of data – the mean absolute deviation. 8.1.3 Chapter 8 Statistics and Multiplication Equations We are constructing and interpreting box plots and comparing sets of data. 8.1.4 Chapter 8 Statistics and Multiplication Equations We are constructing three different representations of a single set of data. Then we will determine what kinds of information each representation communicates and decide which representation is most useful for answering a specific question. 8.1.5 Chapter 8 Statistics and Multiplication Equations We are learning to identify statistical questions to anticipate variability in answers. 8.2.1 Chapter 8 Statistics and Multiplication Equations We are learning to use variables to write and solve equations for the form ax = b. 8.3.1 Chapter 8 Statistics and Multiplication Equations We are learning to identify the relationship between distance, rate, and time and will use d = rt to solve word problems. 8.3.2 Chapter 8 Statistics and Multiplication Equations We are learning to develop an understanding of the importance of units when comparing rates and when using rates in computations. 8.3.3
