Operating Hours and Parking Lot Policy Guidelines
Please refer to the Student Parent Handbook for details of all policies through the Al-Amal School website:
www.al-amal.org or get a copy from the Administration. Following are the critical highlights of the school
operating and parking lot policy.
Al-Amal School starts at 8:00 am. The elementary (PK to 5th grade) classes end at 3:15 pm, and middle/high
classes end at 3:30 pm.
Drop-Off
1. Drop-off for all students starts at 7:30 am until 7:55 am. Parents can use the middle/high building
entrances.
2. After 8:00 am, all doors will be locked, and you will need to buzz in; use the school’s main entrance by the
parking lot.
3. All parents must vacate the school as soon as they drop off their children and are not allowed to be
present in the building during the school hours without an appointment.
Late Arrival
1. Students are considered late if they are not seated and ready to begin class at 8:00 am.
2. All late arrival students must enter through the school’s main entrance by the parking lot and get a late
pass from the office before reporting to the class.
3. The late arrival is documented by the teachers and school secretary.
Pick-Up Policy
1. Children are not allowed to leave during the school hours unless parents have an early dismissal pass from
the office.
2. Elementary parents should not enter the school and proceed to classroom before 3:15 p.m. Elementary
classes end at 3:15 pm.
3. Elementary school parents can enter at 3:15 pm through the middle/high entrance (middle door and
ICM door.)
4. The Main entrance will be closed until 3:15 pm, and the parents should avoid walking through the
middle/high building hallways during class times.
5. Middle/High classes end at 3:30 pm, but will be held in the classroom until 3:40 pm to be picked up for
dismissal. The school’s main entrance by the parking lot will be open at that time.

Late Stay
1. Elementary students will be moved to a late stay room/after school care at 3:30 p.m. in Room 204. All
middle/high students will stay in the classroom until 3:40 p.m. waiting to be picked up, and then move
after 3:40 p.m. to their late stay room (TBA).
2. All students (PK – 10th grades) must be picked up by 3:45 p.m. unless in a school sponsored activity or
After School Care room. At 3:45 p.m., there is a late charge fee in the amount of $10 per 15 minutes, or
any fraction thereof, for any child left in the building.
3. For parents who consistently cannot pick up their children on time, Al-Amal offers an After School Program
discount fee. Please see the office for details. The After School Program runs from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m..
All Students need to be picked up by 5:00 p.m..
Parking Lot and No Parking Zone Rules
1. No vehicle parking or idling is allowed in front of all school entrances including the pavement adjacent to
the school from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm during the school operating hours except for the school buses.
2. It is illegal to make a U-turn in-front of the elementary building (on Gardena Avenue) entrances. Fridley
police will issue citations.
3. The pavement in-front of the main school entrances are ONLY for drop off and pick-up. No waiting or
idling is allowed.
4. The Bus Zone located on Gardena Avenue directly in front of the building is designed for buses only. NO drop offs
or pickups are allowed. The school buses have priority, and all other vehicles parked in this area will be illegally
parked, and risk being towed.
5. If you need to drop off or pick up your children from inside the school, park your vehicles at the school
parking lot in the marked parking areas only. You may also use Totino Grace parking (early morning or after
2:30 p.m.). Use the cross walk to safely cross Gardena Avenue.
6. Please obey the handicapped signs and do not park your vehicle at the designated two ICM spots. Follow
directions for all parking lot signs and all white arrows, drive slowly (5 MPH), and always watch for
children in the parking lots. Be prepared and ready to stop quickly when needed.
7. Follow all directions given by the safety guards present by Gardena and the school parking lot.
8. Violators will be towed at owner’s expense for parking rule violations.
Visitors
1. Visitors must enter the school through the main school entrance by the parking lot when school is in
session and must proceed to the office and register.
2. Visitors, including parents, are NOT authorized to roam or wait in the school building during the school
hours.
3. All visitors must obey all safety, evacuation and lockdown procedures when in the building.
