Director of Next Generation Ministries Cedar Heights Brethren In Christ Church Purpose: The position of Director of Next Generation Ministries will be responsible for developing and overseeing the delivery of comprehensive programs of Children’s Christian Education and Youth Programs, as well as enhancing and nurturing the overall educational ministries of the Church. The Director will be expected to create an atmosphere where participants and volunteers alike are excited to attend and serve. The results will be manifested in an enthusiastic and harmonious atmosphere of worship within the Church body. The Director will work to promote growth in faith in Jesus Christ and encourage all within their ministry area to share this faith with others. Responsibilities/Expectations: Coordinate and recruit volunteers to help develop children and youth group activities and programming, and assure that the programs are appropriately staffed and conducted. Develop, review, select, and order youth ministry and education curriculum and materials in consultation with volunteers/teachers. Coordinate volunteer/teaching schedules for youth ministries, including oversight of nursery coordinator. Submit and effectively manage the youth ministry budget. Actively encourage youth to participate in church activities and worship. Recruit, train, and pray for youth ministry volunteers, and encourage volunteers to multiply their ministry within their departments. Coordinate with the volunteer youth and children’s groups leaders to plan and run youth group events. Attend as many youth group events as possible. Communicate regularly with the children and parents/guardians concerning activities and events through email, direct mail and announcements. Annually recruit a Vacation Bible School (VBS) director, assist with development of curriculum and supplies, and provide support the week of VBS. Maintain bulletin boards and ensure that the classrooms are equipped with appropriate supplies. Communicate regularly with the Church Secretary to provide updates for activities and events to be included in bulletin and calendars. Attend quarterly Ministry Leader meetings, bi- weekly staff meetings, and other meetings as require by the Senior Pastor. Be willing to participate in church-wide activities and events beyond one’s ministry area for support and visibility, as well as activities of the children/youth outside of church. Attend Cedar Heights BIC Church services on a regular basis, with the exception of planned time off approved by the Senior Pastor. Director of Next Generation Ministries Cedar Heights Brethren In Christ Church Qualifications: The successful candidate should have sufficient training and experience necessary to assist in nurturing and growth within the life of the Church body. The person must have a passion for Jesus Christ and enthusiasm for working within the Christian Education and Youth departments of the Church. The Director must possess the characteristics and qualities necessary for working harmoniously and effectively with Church members, their children and other Church staff. Appropriate experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree in education or closely related field. Experience in teaching or directing educational activities in a Christian setting is preferred. Cedar Heights is looking for a director who is creative, kind, well-organized, and has an exceptional ability to communicate and to develop relationships. Working Conditions: This position is available to start on August 17, 2015 Current position is part-time: an average of 16 hours per week. This position requires flexibility in availability to work, including evenings and weekends. While the position is considered a parttime position, the number of hours required each week will reflect those needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Attendance at Sunday morning worship is not part of the paid weekly hours for this position. This will be a salaried position, based upon $15 per hour. Paychecks are distributed bi-monthly. The Director will keep the Church Office informed as to how/where they can be contacted, and will check in with the church office on a regular basis for messages, mail, etc. One paid Christian Education/Youth conference will be available for the Director each year; other continuing educational workshops/seminars will be considered by the Senior Pastor. During the first year, two paid vacation days (based on an average of 16 hours/week) will be provided. During the second year and beyond, four paid vacation days (based upon an average of 16 hours/week) will be provided. The Director will need to schedule a constant set of hours at the Church Office each week to allow opportunities for youth and parents to contact him/her. Successful candidate will need to complete mandated background and FBI fingerprinting processes and training.
