Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne is known throughout the Valley for hosting tremendous
golf events, and the 2014 Stoneyard Shootout was no different. Under sunny skies and balmy
late-May temperatures, 79 men and women began their quests for six separate titles in a shotgun
start that began at 9:00 a.m. Divisions were once again handicapped, and once again competition
was fierce. By 2:30 p.m. the tournament was complete with some players even going back out to
play more on an absolutely fantastic course! Local favorite Jaron Warrick recorded the lowest
round of the day with a 73 to win Championship flight.

Championship Flight – At almost 7,000 yards, the blue tees at Lake Breeze are a good test for
anyone. Jaron Warrick battled back from a double on #8 to make three birdies on the back nine
to win by three over Leo Connolly. Afterwards, Warrick said it helped knowing the course and
he also really had a good time with his playing partners. VGO winner Derrick Meier had a
couple of holes to forget but was able to keep his points lead with a respectable 4th place finish.

Palmer Flight (9-11 hdp) – In one of his first rounds of the year, Dave Pohlman made more
birdies (6) than pars (4) to win the Palmer flight by two over fellow new-comer to the FCGT,
Ken Skalmoski. Par was Ken’s score of choice as he was very impressed with the course set-up
and the tournament set-up and is looking forward to the Strategies Championship!

Watson Flight (16+ hdp) – Another first timer was a winner on Saturday with Jakob Weninger
bringing home the Watson crown with a nice round of 86. We were 1 stroke away from having a
4-way playoff which would have been very interesting. FCGT point’s leader Ryan Decker had
another nice finish along with Anthony Eckholm and Kathy Algiers.

Hogan Flight (16+ hdp & 55 or older) – Herman Gandt posted a career low to finish second to
a great round of 82 by Norman Stoddard. The Hogan flight was the first Classic Division flight
on the FCGT and all of the players really enjoyed playing from the Gold tees. “I’ve never played
from those tees before and it was a lot of fun” said Grover Sawvel.
