Transform your garden, backyard or poolside into a lush tropical oasis with a wide array of equatorial
flora and fauna at the Palm, Cycad, Bamboo and Tropical Plant Sale at the San Diego Botanic Garden on
Saturday, May 31, from 9 am – 3 pm. This one-of-a-kind event features rare and exotic species of palms,
cycads and other tropical plants that flourish well in Southern California’s unique environment, as well as
other unusual species that you’ll never normally see at local garden shops or nurseries.
Come and add a king palm, some lucky bamboo, or perhaps a striking cycad to your landscape design.
Cycads add a distinctive touch to any outdoor area and have been growing on earth for more than 200
million years – since the time of the dinosaurs! These living fossils can be found throughout the San
Diego Botanic Garden. We invite you to see how we utilize these drought-tolerant plants in the Garden.
Obtain planting tips directly from experts in the field and see first-hand these amazing botanical treasures
being provided by several exceptional Southern California nurseries on Saturday, May 31 from 9 am – 3
pm at the San Diego Botanic Garden. This event is co-hosted by the Palm Society of Southern California
and San Diego Botanic Garden.

San Diego Botanic Garden is an oasis nestled in Encinitas in San Diego County. Visitors
enjoy restful vistas, flowering trees, majestic palms, and the nation’s largest bamboo
collection. The Garden is on 37 acres and consists of four miles of garden trails throughout
29 uniquely themed gardens including: Hamilton Children’s Garden, Mexican Garden,
Tropical Rain Forest, and Mediterranean Garden.
