One metronome per family is enough. If you don’t have one, the teacher can purchase one for you and add the cost into the next month’s bill. (A good one costs around $40.) All students are required to have either a piano or an adequate keyboard on which to practice, with a minimum of 61 keys, a sustain pedal and touch sensitivity. The keyboard needs to be on an adequate stand (or table of the right height) so that the elbows hang at or just above the keys. If possible, a keyboard with 76 or 88 weighted keys is preferred. Practicing Students should plan to practice at least 20, and preferably 30, minutes per day, six days per week. It is important and necessary that the parent ensures that the student practices. Most students are too young to be totally self-disciplined and need encouragement. The keyboard should be in a room without too many distractions or other uses that interfere with practice time. If you would like to register for lessons, sign both pages and return one copy of this policy, along with the $25 for each student. Make checks payable to Carolyn Eng. Keep a second copy of this policy for your records. Lesson slots will be allocated upon receipt of registration fee. For electronic transmission, a typed signature will be considered valid upon receipt of the $25 fee. I hereby agree to all provisions of the above policy.
