New CEOWA Doctoral and Master scholarships Application Package Introduction The Strategic Directions 2014-2016 – LEADing in a flourishing Catholic Education system highlight the system importance of: Learning – is what we do. To support the new Strategic Directions 2014 – 2016 two new scholarships have been created. Doctoral scholarship This is a scholarship for two members of staff from Western Australian Catholic schools and/or the CEOWA who are nearing completion of a doctoral degree. The scholarship will provide recipients with up to one term’s funded leave to assist the writing and submission of their thesis for examination. The maximum value of each scholarship is $30,000, to be provided to the employer to cover salary costs. Master scholarship This is a scholarship for up to four members of staff from Western Australian Catholic schools and/or the CEOWA for study of qualifications at Masters level, four from each LEAD focus area (Learning, Engagement, Accountability and Discipleship). Each scholarship will provide recipients with $2,000 to be used to cover units and degree fees associated with their degree Contribution to Catholic Education As part of the commitment, each scholarship recipient will need to demonstrate how their Doctoral thesis or Master’s unit/course will enhance the Strategic Directions 2014 – 2016. The requirements are covered in the application form. In return for the scholarship, there is a requirement that professional learning sessions would be conducted by the scholarship recipient across Catholic Education with the aim of broadening the learning gained from the study/research. Application process and submission To apply for a CEO scholarship, applicants are required to: 1. Complete all fields associated with the attached CEO Scholarship application form. 2. Submit a resume highlighting your personal information, academic qualifications, Accreditation status (if applicable), work history (including achievements), contacts for two professional referees connected with your study and other information you deem relevant to the application 3. Write a one-page (maximum) cover letter, addressed to the Executive Director of Catholic Education in Western Australia, Dr Tim McDonald. This letter cover: How you see your study benefiting Catholic Education, with particular reference to the Strategic Directions 2014 – 2016; and How you will make a personal contribution to Catholic Education as a result of your study.
