Child Trax
“Child Trax” (Sole Proprietorship) is a unique, highly accurate transponder-based
tracking system that relies on existing technology. This product/service was designed to
provide detailed information regarding the whereabouts of young children who have been
reported missing in crowded, busy settings. “Child Trax” alleviates the anxiety felt by a
parent/guardian whose child has wandered off alone and is lost in a swarm of strangers.
The “Child Trax” program will be implemented on a trial basis in limited number of
shopping malls in the Southeastern U.S. If the program proves to be successful (attracts a
broader customer base by providing reassurance and a sense of security) in these “test
centers”, the “Child Trax” service will be extended to amusement/recreational parks and
other populous venues nationwide and/or worldwide. The concept of “Child Trax” is
simple. Upon entering a “Child Trax” zone (such as the shopping mall mentioned above),
a guardian takes his/her child to an information or security desk and provides the
attendant with the child’s name, his/her own name and basic contact information. The
attendant enters this information into a database and issues the child a personal I.D.
bracelet (transponder) that can be used to link him/her back to the information provided
by the guardian. The child’s lightweight bracelet, similar in shape to a medical I.D. band,
contains a transponder device that transmits a unique signal. Sensors that have been fitted
throughout “Child Trax” zones receive the inimitable signal emitted by each child’s
personal wristband. Information about the child’s location is continuously monitored by
these sensors and relayed back to a central unit (computer) at the information/security
desk of the complex. The child wears his/her personal I.D. bracelet for the duration of
his/her stay in the “Child Trax” zone. If the child should get lost, his/her guardian can go
back to the information/security desk and ask the attendant to locate the child by
consulting the “Child Trax” database, which provides a comprehensive description of the
child’s exact location (“Michael Jones is in the Pet Land store on the second floor.”) The
world is changing at an alarming pace. More and more activities clutter the schedules and
minds of its inhabitants. Life is more hectic and chaotic than ever. Unfortunately, the
hustle and bustle of everyday life has increased the likelihood that parents/guardians will
be distracted and lose track of a child in a crowded area. This is precisely the type of
common scenario that the “Child Trax” service targets and eliminates. While in “Child
Trax” zones, rents/guardians are given the opportunity to request a tracking bracelet for
each child under their control. In the event of that a child is lost, the attendant at the
information/security desk of a complex can instantly and effortlessly locate the child via
the signal emitted by the transponder in his/her bracelet. Hence, parent and child are
reunited and potential disaster is averted. “Child Trax” provides peace of mind to the
parent, as they have an additional resource to rely on when the unthinkable occurs -Jennifer A. Potel
Character Education Consulting
Character Education Consulting (Sole Proprietorship) The purpose of this educational
consulting company would be to go to elementary, secondary, and high schools, creating
and implementing character development programs in these schools. The curriculum
36
would be catered to the socioeconomic standing of each school, and the transformation
method at each school would be twofold. First, it would involve implementing separate
courses, describing the six pillars of character, positive psychology, and/or ethics
(curriculum would vary based on school needs and interests). These courses would be
delivered independently and would fit into a time slot during the day (one solution might
be extending homeroom and turning it into its own course). Second, this organization
would provide a teacher-training program, in which teachers would be trained by
professionals (members of the educational consulting staff) on how to implement this
character curriculum as a cross-disciplinary level (i.e.: English professors learning how to
discuss character in relation to classic books). -- Morgan McCarthy
