From: Nick O'Neill [noneill@slrconsulting.com] Sent: Monday, June 09, 2014 11:45 AM To: HFReview Subject: Energy Well Integrity Feedback I believe that there should be additional information on the level of blow out prevention required while drilling shale gas wells in this document on well intergrity. The only reference in the document to blow out prevention is on page 7 : “When the cement has set adequately, a flange is welded on to the casing, and a blow-out preventer and other sealing equipment for assurance of security and unimpeded fluid circulation are firmly bolted to the flange so that deeper drilling can be executed with minimal risk”. Regulations in Europe are driving up the cost of drilling shale gas wells by introducing regulations requiring very high standards of well control that many engineers would consider excessive. Could the blow out prevention requirements be spelled out in the Nova Scotian document to avoid any mis-interpretation?
