Hiawatha High School Class of 1984
Scholarship Application
The Class of 1984 Scholarship Fund will award three $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from Hiawatha
High School. Members of the 1984 class created the scholarship to recognize the outstanding education they
received at Hiawatha High School and to show appreciation for the community scholarships they received
many years ago.
The Class of 1984 Scholarship is intended to recognize a well-rounded student who plans to continue their
education at a four-year college, community college, or vocational school. Members of the class serve on the
Scholarship Committee and may change the criteria from year to year. The selection of the recipient will be
made without any regard to gender, national origin, or religion. The Scholarship Recipient will be announced
at the Senior Awards Night in May. The scholarship award will be made directly to the educational institution
for tuition expenses in the Fall of 2016 in a one-time installment of $1,000, upon proof of enrollment.
Applications will be available from the high school counselor’s office in January 2016 and are due back to the
Hiawatha Education Foundation office on the deadline established by the counselor’s office.
Applicants must meet the initial selection criteria:
 Graduate from Hiawatha High School in May of the year the award is made.
 Attend Hiawatha High School since the beginning of the junior year.
 Achieve a GPA cumulative average of 2.50 or higher on a 4.0 point scale.
 Enroll as a full-time student (12 hours minimum) at an accredited four-year college, community
college, or vocational school in the Fall of 2016 semester.
 Return the completed 3-page application, transcript, and essay to the counselor’s office by the
deadline. Applications without all three items will not be scored.
Instructions: The student should complete the application and essay with minimal outside assistance.
Application: Complete the application as received with legible printing or by typing within the electronic Word
