Curriculum Objectives
This Course Unit is a continuation of A8510 Introduction to Biblical Hebrew. It consolidates and
builds on students’ knowledge of Biblical Hebrew, enabling them to translate and exegete Hebrew
Biblical texts.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this unit students will be able to:
1. expand their memorized Hebrew vocabulary
2. recognize more advanced Biblical Hebrew grammar and syntax
3. translate, parse and analyse more complex Biblical Hebrew
4. use Biblical Hebrew dictionaries and concordances with greater facility
5. read critical exegetical commentaries on biblical Hebrew texts with greater facility

Assessment Profile
Assessment tasks are designed both the help students attain the unit outcomes and to enable
teachers to assess student attainment. In this unit, the required assessment tasks will enable
students to demonstrate how successfully they can:
1. Memorise required Hebrew grammar paradigms and vocabulary. [Outcomes 1 and 2]
2. Translate, parse and analyse Biblical Hebrew texts, both seen and unseen into English.

3. Consult dictionaries, concordances and grammars to enhance study of Biblical Hebrew texts.
