TENSINET - COST Action TU1303 SYMPOSIUM 2016 ‘Novel Structural Skins’ Improving sustainability and efficiency through new structural textile materials and designs. Wednesday 26, Thursday 27 and Friday 28 October 2016 Newcastle University, United Kingdom The 5th TensiNet Symposium, October 2016, is organized by the TensiNet Association, under COST Action TU1303 and hosted by Newcastle University in the north of England. The three-day symposium will refer to the TensiNet and COST Action TU1303 Working Groups, with five main topics: New applications of structural skins and new concepts Sustainability and Life Cycle Analysis of structural skins Building physics and energy performance of structural skins Materials and analysis From material structure and limit states: codes and standardization On Wednesday afternoon and evening there will be an ‘open session’ involving keynote speakers, where prominent experts in the architectural and engineering world will present inspiring built projects and attract an audience of architects, engineers, academics and professionals involved in the design and delivery of the built environment. Keynote speakers The following keynote speakers have already confirmed: Patrik Schumacher (Zaha Hadid Office, London), Julian Lienhard (str.ucture GmbH, Stuttgart), Carl Maywald (Vector Foiltec, Bremen), Raul Fanguiero (Fibrenamics department, Minho University) and Gordon Mungal (ARUP, Newcastle). It is hoped to attract other prominent speakers, such as Philip Johnson (Populous Architects, London) and Al Fisher (Buro Happold, Bath).
