To All Kingwood Residents,
This Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM the City of Houston will be collecting Batteries, Oils
including cooking oils, latex Paint, and Anti freeze. A scrap metal vendor will also be at
the location to collect large appliances and any scrap metals you bring. Time to clean out
the garage and haul it up to the Metro lot! The City requests that only City of Houston
residents use the BOPA service. The Scrap metal dealer will take items from anyone.
In a separate collection, also at the Park and Ride on Saturday, the Houston Police
Department and the DEA will be collecting outdated drugs, medications, etc. from 10 AM
to 2 PM.
Anyone can use this service. Items are put into a collection box and no
questions and no ID is required.
It is recommended that you use the Lake Houston entrance to the park and ride for either
of these events. If you are using the normal weekend recycling on the east end of the lot,
you might want to enter the east gate on Rustic Woods to avoid traffic from the other
two collections.
Remember, at this BOPA, only the items mentioned above are taken. If you have other
hazardous waste products you can go to our web site to find where to dispose of
them. www.keepkingwoodgreen.org No electronics are collected at the BOPA. The next
e-waste collection is on November 2nd from 9 AM to 3 PM.
A team from Keep Kingwood Green will be at the entrance to answer your questions and
give you information. Hope to see you Saturday! While no other electronic will be
accepted, we will gladly accept your used cell phones and smart phones on Saturday. Drop
them off at our tent or to a KKG volunteer.
Pass the word to your friends and neighbors. This is the second BOPA this year in
Kingwood. You asked for a second one and thanks to the Solid Waste Department and
Councilman, Dave Martin, it is being brought to you. There will not be another until next
spring.
Thanks for recycling!
