Greater Des Moines Noon Chapter
Goals for 2014-2015
Chapter Annual Plan
1. In July the outgoing President and the incoming President and all other officers and chairpersons
should meet to develop a plan to ensure a smooth transition for the next year.
2. The incoming Vice-President and selected committee members should meet to review/revise
the upcoming year’s Chapter Standing Rules and Goals in July and present them to the Board and then
to the membership for approval at the August meeting.
3. The incoming Executive Board should submit a budget for the upcoming year to the members.
4. Achieve Level I “Best Practices Award” whose criteria must be met between August 1, 2014 and
July 31, 2015. This is the highest award an ABWA chapter can earn.
a. Have a minimum of 50 primary members in good standing on the group’s roster on July 31, 2015
(the last day of the award year.) Recruite at least 3 new members.
b. Have complied with all requirements as stated by the Internal Revenue Service for a 501c6 entity.
c. Is a local league in good standing.
d. Have a minimum of 15 members who have completed the Member Interest Survey for the 20142015 Award Year (now available in WIN/”Hotbox” on the ABWA.org website.)
e. Created a SPOT analysis (strengths, problems, opportunity and threats).
g. The Executive Board has created and posted their vision statement on their WIN team board.
h. The Executive Board must successfully complete the Striving for Best Practices in 2014-2015 Course.
i. Officer’s have been elected and President has assigned positions of Executive Board and Committee
Chairs in their team roster located in WIN.
j. Created an annual business plan and budget.
k. Created a category titled Business Plan and uploaded plan in the WIN library.
l.. Scheduled and delivered a minimum of nine (9) professional development programs that are 45
minutes in length.
m. Voted at a regular meeting on Standing Rules (including adopting ABWA’s Proud of Conduct).
n. Created a category titled, 2014-2015 Standing Rules and uploaded the rules in the WIN team library.

o. Published and distributed a minimum of four (4) newsletters to members that appropriately display the
official ABWA trademarks, ABWA’s Mission Statement, team’s Vision Statement for 2014-2015, and the
Proud Code of Conduct. Created a category titled 2014-2015 Newsletters in the team’s WIN library and
uploaded four newsletters published within the 2014-2015 Award Year.
p. Chapter has made a minimum contribution of $100 donation to either the Stephen Bufton Memorial
Educational Fund or the ABW Foundation in the 2014-2015 Award Year.
q. Sponsors a minimum of seven members to attend either a regional and /or national conference. At
least one member of record is in attendance at the 2015 National Women’s Leadership Conference in
Albuquerque, NM on October 15-17, 2015 to receive the award.
r. Recognized local members by selecting a Chapter Woman of the Year and by submitting a Top Ten
Businesswoman of ABWA (if there is an eligible candidate) in the 2014-2015 Award Year to
National.
s. Submitted the $115 annual administrative fee payment to ABWA National.
t. Mailed the group’s completed Best Practices in League Management binder to ABWA National on
or before July 31, 2015.
5. The Social Chair will hold a minimum of two networking/social events yearly.
6. At each monthly meeting, all members and guests will be introduced.
Membership
1. The Membership Committee will introduce new members at each meeting after a new member’s
complete applications have been received.
2. The Membership Committee will provide new members with orientation material.
3. The Membership Committee will hold Fall and Spring enrollment drives for prospective new members.
4. The Membership Committee will assist current members in recruiting new members according to the
Best Practices requirements.
5. The Membership Committee will contact absent members to encourage their attendance and also
contact inactive members to encourage reactivation.
6. The Membership Committee and President will prepare and implement a plan to retain new members
including involving them in committees.

Programs
1. Make educational programs the primary focus of Chapter activities.
2. Have nine (9) programs that contribute to member’s personal/professional development.
4. Publish programs, topics and speakers, in the chapter newsletter as available.
Education
1. Contribute a minimum of $100 to SBMEF to sponsor an applicant for an Outright Grant.
2. Have a minimum of three (3) qualified applicants complete the application process before June 1,
2015 for our League’s Outright Grant to be awarded.
3. Complete the Impact Scholarship form, defining the eligibility criteria and submit the contribution to
SBMEF by January 31, 2015.
4. Have a minimum of three (3) qualified applicants complete the application process before March 31,
2015 for our League’s Impact Scholarship to be awarded.
Newsletter
1. Produce monthly newsletters in accordance with ABWA Newsletter Award criteria and distribute in a
timely fashion to all members.
2. Spotlight important information about members in the newsletters.
3. Information for the newsletter should be submitted by the twentieth (20th) of the month to the
Newsletter Chair.
4. Maintain a chapter website.
Fundraising
1. Hold fundraising events to cover the cost of chapter management, scholarships, community
involvement and member educational expenses.

Community Involvement
1. Submit organizations’ names to the membership to vote on the recipient of funds designated for our
community involvement project.
Publicity / Website
1. Publicity committee should develop and distribute monthly press releases announcing Chapter
programs and speakers as well as special events to the local media, and to other chapters within the
Des Moines area.
2. Maintain a chapter website.
All Committees
1. All committees should strive to have at least two (2) members.
