cruise (noun): a voyage on a ship or boat taken for pleasure or as a vacation
 I will be going on a cruise to Alaska during winter break.
 Billy had the opportunity to go sight-seeing at many different stops
during the cruise.
document (noun): an official paper that gives information about something
or that is used as proof of something
 In order to go to the dance, she needed to have her parents sign many
documents.
 The witness showed the document to the court to prove she was not at
the restaurant.
gratitude (noun): a feeling of appreciation or thanks
 The family felt gratitude toward the community for helping them after
the fire burned down their house.
 Having a feeling of gratitude every day helps us keep a positive attitude
on life.
issue (noun): an important subject or topic for debate or discussion
 The biggest issue at the school assembly was how to plan the winter
dance.
 The debate team discussed the issue of required school uniforms.
juvenile (noun): not fully grown or developed, young
 No one appreciated his juvenile behavior in the library.
 The juvenile had to watch the movie with his parents because it was
rated PG-13.

manual (noun): a small reference book, especially one giving instructions
 Arthur needed to read the manual because he could not figure out how
to build the table.
 My mom did not need to use the manual because she already knew
how to use her new computer.
nuisance (noun): a person, thing, or situation that is annoying, unpleasant, or
obnoxious
 Our neighbor’s dog is a nuisance because it never stops barking.
 It is such a nuisance when the bus is late to my bus stop because it
messes up my whole schedule.
routine (noun): a regular way of doing things in a particular order; a standard
procedure
 Instead of following his daily routine of eating pizza for lunch, Andrew
decided to eat salad instead.
 Doing your homework after school should be part of your regular
routine.
unite (verb): to join together to do or achieve something
 The city united to raise money for the troops.
 “Let’s unite to defeat the other team!” the basketball coach exclaimed.
vacuum (noun): emptiness of space; a space absolutely devoid of matter
vacuum cleaner: an electrical appliance that cleans surfaces by suction
 Outer space is a giant vacuum.
 My dad told me to vacuum the carpet because I had dropped cookie
crumbs.
