We the undersigned, all members of the NYU community, call upon you, President Clinton, to withdraw from speaking at the inauguration of the NYU/Abu Dhabi campus. We are aware that this inauguration coincides with the graduation of the first class of NYUAD; and this is a matter of regret, as we believe the students there deserve to celebrate the fruits of their hard work---but not at the expense of those who have built their campus. Indeed, given the horrific treatment of those workers, as recently reported by the New York Times and other sources, and given that the legal culpability for such abuse has yet to be determined, we urge you to cancel your appearance on that campus, rather than legitimize the scandal there.
