WI REGIONAL HONORS IN ACTION 2015-2016 Organ Donation Project According to uwhealth.org, there are currently more than 123,000 people in the U.S. on the waiting list to receive an organ transplant. More than 2,300 of those are from Wisconsin. Every 10 minutes, a new name is added to the list, and 22 people die each day because they didn't receive the organ they needed to survive in time. The Wisconsin Regional Officer Team would like to close that gap by challenging your chapter to host an organ donation awareness event. This event can be held either on campus or in the community. We encourage chapters to be creative. Your chapter may choose to have a movie night. Watch the movie and discuss the issue! Form a book club. Choose a book, form a group, read and discuss! Set up an awareness information booth. Host a “Gift From the Heart” Valentine’s Day themed event that brings awareness of the need for organ donors. Each chapter can decide what type of event works best for them. Project requirements: Share your project on the Wisconsin Region Phi Theta Kappa Facebook page. Please include a photo AND a brief summary of your event (500 word limit) answering the following questions: What was the date of the event? How many people were involved in the planning and the actual event? What research did you do to research or prepare for the event? What did you learn about organ donation from the event? The deadline to report is 11:59 p.m. on February 15, 2016. Chapters that post their complete response to The Wisconsin Region Phi Theta Kappa's Facebook page by the deadline will be put in a drawing for one free registration to the 2016 International Conference (NerdNation). (A winning chapter that does not attend the International Conference may choose to receive a $200 prize in lieu of the conference scholarship.) The winning chapter will be announced at the Wisconsin Regional Convention in March. REQUIREMENTS: Win a free registration to NerdNation 2016! DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 15, 2016, BY 11:59 P.M.
