Bayer CropScience Ltd 230 Cambridge Science Park Milton Road Cambridge CB4 0WB News Release Pre-em favourite packs less plastic Cambridge, 3, July, 2013– Growers planning to use the pre-em Liberator (flufenacet+diflufenican) for this autumn’s weed control programmes will welcome the new 5L containers, reducing the time needed to fill a tank and wash and dispose of multiple packs. The new 5L containers employ Bayer CropScience’s Smartline packaging, which the company says is easy to use and difficult to imitate. “Making sprayer operators’ lives easier is the reason why we’ve made the move,” says product manager Tim Holt. “Originally the 3L pack made the maths easier, but measuring gradations are the norm so it makes sense to reduce the burden at the point of tank-filling and disposal. “For example, if you’ve 200 hectares, receiving Liberator at 0.6L/ha, the new sized packaging will save 16 containers - that is a 40% reduction in number of packs. That is 16 openings, 16 pourings and 16 washings - the time soon adds up. And when the pressure is on, when spray windows are few and far between and when daylight hours are short, a 40% saving makes a big difference,” says Mr Holt. Launched in autumn 2011, Smartline packaging features ergonomic design and ‘glugfree’ pouring. Bayer calculates it has saved 250 tons of plastic annually and retained useful features such as the translucent material, which aids the use of measuring graduations and thorough rinsing. -ends- - 1/2 - Contact: Tim Holt, Tel. no: 01223 226623 E-Mail: tim.holt@bayer.com Whisper PR, Natalie Reed, Tel no: 01608 637805 E-Mail: natalie.reed@whisper.pr Find more information at www.bayercropscience.co.uk.
