Right Here, Now

November 8, 2013 – February 16, 2014

BATON ROUGE, LA

—From November 8, 2013 through February 16, 2014, the LSU Museum of Art will present the work of 24 working faculty-artists from the LSU College of Art. Right

Here, Now features more than 103 works in the LSU College of Art’s eight studio areas: photography, painting and drawing, printmaking, graphic design, foundations, sculpture, ceramics and digital media. LSU’s School of Art professors, associate professors and assistant professors are not only educators, but also working artists. Right Here, Now provides an opportunity to see the quality and variety of art created by this accomplished group, many of whom are awardwinning men and women who have exhibited nationally and internationally, including recent and upcoming shows in California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, New York, Texas, Ireland and

China. Works by some participating artists have been included in museum collections around the world. Because faculty members typically include their work in galleries, and solo or group shows outside of Baton Rouge, Right Here, Now offers viewers an opportunity to experience the artworks of those who are instructing and inspiring future artists.

Right Here, Now has come about through the Museum’s commitment to the LSU School of

Art’s first-rate faculty,” stated Jordana Pomeroy, LSU Museum of Art executive director. “As another artistic arm of LSU, the Museum celebrates the innovations that the Academy produces.

We look forward to making this into a series of exhibitions that make visible to the community the wealth of creative talent here at LSU.”

“As educators, these artists must carefully balance the roles of curricular development and classroom teaching with artistic exploration and creative activity,” said Natalie Mault, LSU

Museum of Art curator. “The faculty continually explores new concepts and expands the limits of art through innovative approaches. The resulting works are altogether stunning and challenging, and the diversity of the show speaks to the wide-ranging talents of these individuals and their commitment to their various fields of art.”

Right Here, Now is organized by the LSU Museum of Art and is made possible in part by support from LSU College of Art and Design, The Arts Council and Louisiana Machinery Co.
