Advertisements Exploration The picture of the advertisement shows a tiger walking in a river during night time. It’s a picture from the National Geographic channel which mostly shows and talks about wild animals and nature. This was a picture taken in India because it’s known to have the highest population of tigers. The main thing that’s being advertised is wildlife because of the huge, wild tiger and the big side note that says, “GO WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE” which manipulates the audience to take action. The audience or the people who were meant for this advertisement are Tourists who are people who travel to different countries and explore the resources, and then bring foreign exchange money to that country. Wild life is a great tourist attraction because they are always excited to see different animals which don’t exist in their country. The overall design of the picture looks really good and attractive because it was photographed and the flashlight of the camera only catches the tiger which reflects its image on the water and since it was during the night, the tiger becomes the only thing that stands out in the picture. The picture was taken by The National Geographic channel crew who constantly take pictures as they explore nature and do scientific experiments which they present to their audience. But in this photo they are mainly talking about their adventurous point of view about their experience with wildlife and they are encouraging tourists to have the same experience which they will never forget. In the picture it’s written “Incredible places, Unforgettable trips”. This will encourage more tourists to travel to explore wildlife and get the experience they believed they will get. The key inference which makes the ad to make more sense for the tourist is the fact that the message matches with what is shown in the picture because from looking at the picture you will easily assume wildlife is a fun and adventurous idea. The ad also seeks my involvement because it makes me want to tune into the National Geographic channel and watch wildlife. This is exactly what the ad is doing because it’s main goal is to catch the reader’s attention which then makes them take actions like watching their videos and this benefits them because their channel will get more views and they will have more people looking and following what they are doing. This advertisement is mainly for the people who can afford the trips to travel. But there are some people who can’t afford to travel and have the adventure which will play with their self-esteem because they will wish they could afford to see wildlife just like the rich tourists who will really have the experience. So the status plays a big role in the ad by how only rich people can have access to it. Identity also plays a big role because the ad makes national geographic a cool channel and a lot of people will tune into it and due to this there will be people who watch the channel just because other people are watching it rather than finding what they really like. The cultural side to the advertisement is that the tiger symbolizes power and stealth in the Indian culture. The fact the picture was taken in India shows that tigers are protected in India because this animal is barely found in other countries due to it being hunted and killed for it skin. This shows that the tiger is valued in the Indian culture because of what it symbolizes and the protection it gets from the country which it could not get in any other country. This advertisement can be as manipulative and misleading in some ways as any other ad because it also has some hidden information which would’ve prevented the readers from participating if that information was shown. The hidden information is the dangers of wild animals. The ad shows a vicious tiger but it makes it seem like it’s okay to get close to it by only mentioning the good and beautiful sides to that action. But the ad doesn’t say that tigers are violent and dangerous because it will prevent people from liking and participating in it because they will know that it’s risky to get close to tigers. So advertisements are made to catch your attention by making you focus on the negative and not think about the positive. Before buying or accepting ad’s ideas you must think about it’s negative effects which are hidden but a wise person will easily know what’s good for him/her because of carefully reading and thinking outside the box so that they cannot get tricked and waste their money.
