Ethical Rights

Ethics is what a person thinks is right or wrong in conduct. Many cultures have their own ethical conduct that they live by; for example, the Ten Commandments, which is mainly followed by Christians. Ethical means to deal with morals and what people perceive right and wrong, as well the way people set their principles and how they follow them each day. Being ethical is following a set of ethics, which include honesty, integrity, and lastly, being respectful to others.

Honesty, perceived by many people, is a frequent ethical moral that people believe is essential in being a better person in life. Few epitomical ways of honesty involves telling the truth and being straightforward to others without being discourteous. When a person tells the truth no matter what the consequences is, the society, as a whole would value his or her opinion and will value him or her as a person, resulting him or her to be an exceptional person. Thomas

Jefferson once said, “Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom”. When people are honest and don’t lie or cheat, they will be the ones that will have greater power of wisdom and knowledge over the people who are deceitful and cheat their way into anything they do, and this is what Thomas Jefferson was conveying in his quote. A boy cheats on his test, when he gets his test back he sees that he receives an A on his test, however he feels bad about cheating, and then tells his teacher about what he did. The boy receives his punishment and gets a zero on the test for cheating, but his teacher does not lose his trust but gains it instead because the boy comes forward with his crime regarding the other consequences he might have received. This is an example of where a boy shows his honesty, despite the consequences; ultimately this experience makes him a better person in life.

Integrity is keeping a person’s reputation clean, and it intertwines with honesty, because if a person is honest then his or her integrity builds up and they have a good reputation with moral uprightness. Nicolas Sparks says, “In the end you should always do the right thing even if it's hard”. Life is hard, people can accomplish their goals the easy way by cheating, lying or deception and have bad reputation in moral uprightness or, like what Nicolas Sparks was trying to convey in his quote, people can choose to struggle and fight their way and accomplish goals by doing the right thing and living up to consequences they have received and have a good reputation with moral uprightness. A student is caught cheating on a test and his integrity goes down. The teachers would stop trusting him and his reputation with the teacher will decline.

Integrity is pressing ethical moral because it is based on what the person’s actions are and it’s effect on his or her reputation, and that shapes him or her in becoming a better or worse person.

Finally, the last ethical moral is respecting others. Respect is “esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability” .In other words, respect is feeling a great appreciation for someone or someone’s abilities, qualities or achievements. Valuing each other’s point of view, being open to correction, and treating people the way any human wants to be treated are few illustrations of respect. A student is sitting in class and does not favor what the teacher is teaching, but he still shows his respect and listens to the teacher’s lecture. Albert

Einstein had said, “I speak to everyone in the same way, whether he is the garbage man or the president of the university”. There are many forms of respect that has been shown throughout centuries and one of the forms is that no matter where a person is ranked in the social class, he or she should always show the same respect to everyone he or she speak to and this was the message that Albert Einstein was sending, in his quote, to everyone.

Overall, ethics sums up to what a person’s moral principles are. Honesty, integrity and respectfulness are an insufficient amount of examples that make up ethical principles and morals but they are the most universal ones that numerous people follow, and if people follow these principles, it makes them a better person. Ethics is what a person perceives is right or wrong and it differs from person to person.
