Ryan Cote
Ryan Cote is a 20+ year industry veteran with broad and deep IT experience across many fields
and specialties. Starting out as an EE trainee at DEC, he began his career as a VLSI designer
helping to draw integrated circuits for Digital’s ALPHA processor in the early 90’s. Digital Corp.
was subsequently acquired by Intel, probably preserving Ryan’s sanity (mostly). Since that illfated beginning, Ryan has gone on to work for multiple Fortune 500 companies such as MCI,
HP/Compaq, TRW/Northrop Grumman, CHASE, and Bank of America in a variety of engineering
and/or management capacities. Ryan currently works as the Vice President of IT for iforce and
Surge Staffing.
Ryan is also a USMC veteran, husband and father, avid sportsman and outdoorsman. His
personal life and professional occupation perfectly and succinctly intersect at the crossroads of
individual family safety & preparedness and corporate DR planning. Ryan has devised, written,
planned, tested and executed numerous Enterprise DR strategies and drives his family crazy
with regular family fire drills and emergency planning meetings.
Ryan graduated from Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH with a Bachelor of Science in
History and Electrical Engineering an MA in Administration. Ryan is currently writing his
Dissertation on Cyber Terrorism at Capella University in hopes of someday actually graduating
with his PhD in Information Security & Assurance. Ryan is also currently enrolled at Columbia in
their Executive Master’s in Technology Management program. Ryan is somewhat active in the
Columbus area Tech and InfoTech landscape and escapes to go scuba diving whenever life
allows.
