The special partnership between both our charities is a wonderful example of how uniting together can really make a difference to improving the lives of people living with cancer. It is so important for all our future health that Walk the Walk are able to continue making such a significant difference throughout Scotland, but we can only do it with the support. We need Walkers to sign up for The MoonWalk Scotland choose from a quarter marathon to a double marathon and whilst you achieve a personal goal, you will be raising awareness for those with cancers…not to mention an unforgettable night!” Laura Lee, Chief Executive of Maggie’s said: “It is wonderful to be in this beautiful, loch-side setting today to launch the construction of Maggie’s Forth Valley and to be able to look forward to the Centre opening next year and bringing Maggie’s programme of support to the Forth Valley. My sincere thanks go to Walk the Walk and the walkers of The MoonWalk Scotland for their tremendous fundraising and support of Maggie’s Forth Valley. We have been incredibly fortunate too in having the support of many local people who have given their time, money and effort to help fund the running of the Centre in its first weeks and months of opening.” Gordon Dunne, Dunne Building & Civil Engineering Ltd said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the contract to deliver Maggie’s Forth Valley and especially proud at being selected for a second time to build a Maggie’s Centre following our successful delivery of the multi-award-winning Maggie’s Glasgow at Gartnavel Hospital in 2011. In terms of construction, its contemporary design makes it an interesting project and we look forward to handing over another first class building in the spring of 2016.” Notes to editors: The MoonWalk Scotland 2015 Saturday 13th June, Inverleith Park, Edinburgh.
