Guide to Information upload on IAU HESD Portal
www.iau-hesd.net
Aim of the Portal
Purpose is to share information on higher education practices and approaches to ESD and to assist other
institutions from around the world in developing and implementing (innovative) ESD projects and
initiatives of their own.
Mechanisms developed
The International Association of Universities has developed a variety of mechanisms to feed the portal
and provide information on actions and initiatives being developed around the world to foster
sustainable development through teaching, research, management and other means.
Two main feed lines
1. Desktop research by the IAU HESD Team;
2. Information provided by higher education institutions from around the world.
1. The IAU team working on HESD identifies actions through:




Desktop research carried out on the various Internet portals of institutions and organizations which
are Members of IAU.
Bibliographical searches: in documents received at the IAU (Journals; leaflets; books; etc.)
Spontaneous contributions from institutions, networks and organisations, received by the IAU
HESD team.
Analysis of the data and preparation of fact sheets summarizing actions for sustainable
development undertaken by stakeholders within higher education.
Once published, IAU Member institutions and organizations are identified by a membership flag.
A publication date is indicated in each action sheet.
2. How to submit an action for publication online and how to change/update
information published?
Both IAU Member and non-member institutions and organisations, from around the world, can register
as being active in HESD and showcase their initiatives on the portal by providing information as follows:
