interested in learning about, experiencing, and/or
influencing arts and culture in our society. The next

Dear Community of St. Mary,
Pastoral Council - Persons interested in
sitting on this council to advice the pastor regarding
matters concerning the parish are welcome to be
considered. Please let a current member know of
your interest. They are: Bob and Trish Bozsik,
Tony Crookston, and Sarah Greer.
Right to Life - This week people from local
parishes will be traveling to the annual March for
Life in Washington, DC. Let us pray for their
journey this week as they remind us that the rights
of some of the Living are ignored and ended in the
womb. This is sinful; it misses the mark and
offends the Giver of human life. Please pray for an
end to the taking of innocent life in our country through legal and moral means.
Immigration Reform - U.S. immigration
laws can be an obstacle. The Catholic Bishops of
the U.S. have stated that we must defend our
borders from violators of law, but to do so with
compassion and mercy. February 1 at 2:00pm at St.
Bernard church there will be a presentation by our
Diocese on the issues of immigration reform and the
President's efforts in this regard. All are welcome.
Catholic University Collection - January's
special collection is for this national ministry of
higher education. Please place your envelope in the
collection basket anytime this month. Thank you
for your help to maintain this institution.
St. Mary CYO Basketball - Our 7th and
8th Grade students (Boys & Girls) form a team with
St. Vincent de Paul students and compete with other
local schools. In today's bulletin is a schedule of
Saturday games. Come and cheer on our kids.
August 29, 1915 - one hundred years ago
this year, Bishop Farrelly of Cleveland came to
bless and lay the cornerstone to our present church.
I hope this fall 2015, we can begin plans for a 100
Year Jubilee of its Dedication in fall, 2016.
Boilers and Roof - I am aware that the age
and maintenance of our buildings are ongoing
concerns for us. If there is anything we can do for
future generations, it is to leave them structures for
worship and learning without insurmountable repair
bills. We have the funds now to do something. The
roof on the church is in need of repair. The boiler
that serves both school and church is in need of
replacement, not simply repair, which would entail
separating the heating system into two providers. If
there is something to celebrate in 2016 and 2017
(the school centenary), it would not merely be the
glorious past but our legacy to the future. Fr. Dan
