Membership Application Form
to join the COSMOS-standard AISBL

The COSMOS-standard AISBL is an international non-profit association
registered in Belgium.
Its objects are to promote, support, coordinate and facilitate the activities and the
success of its members by:
 Owning and developing the COSMOS-standard as an international (and
internationally accepted) standard for organic and natural cosmetics;
 Authorising and overseeing high quality and harmonized certification;
 Evolving towards more organic ingredients and environmental improvement
through exchange, debate, and improved standards;
 Representing and integrating opinions of members and interested associated
bodies through the exchange of scientific, social, economic and market
experience;
 Contributing to policy development at all levels;
 Raising awareness of organic and natural cosmetics.
There are two categories of membership: associate and full.
The following can be associate members:
 an individual
 a company, partnership or other legally constituted entity;
 a legally constituted national, European or international association of
companies and/or non-profit organisations.
The following can be full members:
 the founding organisations;
 a legally constituted national, European or international non-profit association
which:
- has been an associate member for at least one year,
- has been admitted as full member by the General Assembly, and
- has interest in the area of organic and/or natural cosmetics.
Both associate and full members have to respect the interest of the AISBL and of
their fellow members and must abide by the provisions of its bylaws and
decisions.
Both associate and full members participate in the objects and activities of the
AISBL, and are invited to participate in General meetings, but only full members
have the right to vote.
Membership fees
Application fee: €500 (paid on application)
NB: for certification bodies, the application fee for approval to certify to the COSMOSstandard includes this AISBL membership application fee.
Evaluation fee for full membership: €1000 (paid on application for full membership)

Application process for associate membership

Please complete and sign this COSMOS-standard AISBL membership application
form.
2.
Send the completed form to the registered office, together with the application fee or
proof of payment (bank details are: BNP Paribas Fortis, Montagne du Parc 3, B1000 Brussels, Belgium; Account No: 001-6167642-70; IBAN: BE60 0016 1676
4270; BIC: GEBABEBB).

The Secretary General will review the application for completeness and forward it to
the COSMOS-standard AISBL board.

The COSMOS-standard AISBL board will consider your application and will vote on
your admittance to the AISBL as an associate member.

If approved, the Secretary General will inform you and will send an invoice for the
annual fee.
6.
Upon receipt of the annual fee, the Secretary General will confirm your associate
membership.
7.
Annually thereafter you will be asked to submit details of your annual
turnover/expenditure for the previous year that are related to activities concerning
cosmetics, from which the Secretary General will calculate the next annual fee.
8.
Upon receipt of your annual fee, the Secretary General will confirm ongoing
associate membership.
9.
If you fulfil the criteria for full membership, you are eligible to apply after one year
being an associate member. Please write a letter of application explaining how your
organisation meets the criteria for full membership and enclosing the evaluation fee.
Your application will be considered by the board who will make a proposal to the
next General Assembly.
