PROMOTION New investigators are encouraged to attend and apply for the ORS/OREF/AAOS Research Funding Workshop Strategies for Success: Tools for Investigators in Challenging Times May 17-18, 2012 Long Beach, California For more than 15 years, the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) and Orthopaedic Research Education Foundation (OREF) have offered the Grant Writing Workshop. Through this workshop, new investigators have developed the skills and learned the strategies to successfully secure funding. The ORS and OREF have joined forces to offer Strategies for Success: Tools for Investigators in Challenging Times—a workshop to enable participants to obtain funding through multiple channels including National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, National Science Foundation, orthopaedic industry, and private foundations. Each attendee will work one-on-one with an experienced musculoskeletal researcher who will provide mentorship, discuss funding strategies, and offer recommendations so essential for a successful academic career. A session on networking will enable early-career investigators to effectively collaborate among their multidisciplinary peers and senior counterparts. Professional relationships forged at this workshop are long-term; and mentors provide assistance in grant application preparation until grants are funded. This program is open to junior faculty, senior fellows or post-doctoral researchers. It is also open to senior fellows or residents who are doing research. Basic and clinical investigators (PhD, MD, MS) without or with training awards are invited to apply. Investigators will meet May 17-18, 2012 in Long Beach, California and again January 28, 2013 just prior to the ORS Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. Deadline to apply for the Strategies for Success is March 15, 2012. To apply for this program, please submit all required documents along with this application to lewsza@ors.org.
