Long and loose hair must be tied back Appropriate footwear must be worn. Shoe must be fully enclosed. No open toed shoes. Close fitting/protective clothing must be worn. Don all personal protective equipment including: safety glasses, & protective nitrile gloves (where required). Ensure all loose clothing is either removed or tied back. Remove any jewelry and tie back long hair. 2. Set up five test tubes as follows: 0.1M Na2C2O4 0.1M iron sulfate 0.1M sulfuric acid Water 0.1M manganese sulfate Temperature 0.02M potassium permanganate Test tube 1 3 ml Test tube 2 1 ml 3 ml 1 ml 1 ml 1 ml 20°C 2 drops 20°C 2 drops Test tube 3 3 ml Test tube 4 3 ml Test tube 5 3 ml 2 ml 1 ml 1 ml 1 ml 1 ml 3 drops 50°C 2 drops 20°C 2 drops 20°C 2 drops 3. Add all reagents except the 2 drops of potassium permanganate and mix. SAFE WORK PROCEDURE Kinetics Page 2 of 2 4. Test tube 1 is the control and all others will be compared to it. 5. Add the 2 drops of potassium permanganate and start timing. Record the time that the pinkpurple colour disappears. 6. Repeat the process for each of the other test tubes. 7. Place a few crystals of calcium carbonate in a beaker and an equal amount of calcium carbonate powder in another beaker. 8. Add about 25 ml of 3M HCl to each beaker. Compare the reactions. 9.
