Honors Biology Biome Project
Dear Parent,
Your student will be spending the next month preparing a Biome project which is the
culmination of the first unit in Honors Biology. Part of the project will be worked on and
reviewed in class. There will be a large component that your child is responsible for on their
own. If you do not have a computer or internet access at home, your child can complete the
assignments at the Saddleback High School Library.
I have already explained to students that if they are working with a friend, each student must
complete a different biome. This is whether or not they are in the same period. Failure to
complete their work on time or independently will affect their grade negatively.
Students must also come into class with the required homework competed on the project. If they
do not, they will not be able to obtain my feedback on how the project is progressing.
For your convenience in checking when each part of this project is due, I have copied the project
schedule and instructions on the back of this letter. Please ask to see what your child has
accomplished on this at least twice a week.
If you have concerns or questions about this, please call me at or email me at
Margaret.robinson@sausd.us.
Thank you for your assistance. Please sign the bottom that you have received this information
and have your child return that portion to me.
Ms. Robinson

FINISHED PROJECT DUE ON DECEMBER 2ND FOR PRESENTATIONS
Honors Biology Biome Project
You will be creating a project exploring many aspects of the biome you choose. You must
stay on time with the schedule that is on the back. You are to bring in your research
printed from the internet, your notes, pictures, etc at each due date. If you do not, then
class time dedicated to the project will be a waste for you. If you use books other than the
text, I want to know what books you used and the pages the information was on.
I do NOT want a typical term paper with pages and pages of written material. You can
create this in a book format, or a power point presentation, a video. Whatever format you
choose, all information must be included.
I do expect plenty of visuals and diagrams. Spelling must be correct. If you choose to write
this project by hand, your writing must be perfect. Neatness and accuracy are important.
Your will most likely have to draw your food web, but actual pictures must be used. Hand
drawings must be PRE-APPROVED by me.
If you choose to work with a friend, you must have different biomes. Any duplication
(copying) of another’s work will severely affect your grade negatively.
Since this is a scientific research project there is no place for decorations such as fancy
borders, stars, glitter and the like.
Pre-planning is very important in an assignment like this. You can do well only if you put
time into the project.
